From the moment I heard “My Maserati does 185 / I lost my license now I don’t drive” in “Life’s Been Good” by the Eagles, my childhood self was fascinated with the Maserati. The fascination never died, and the Maserati A6G/54 (2000 Gran Turismo) is a fine example of that legendary vehicle. The car took top honours in the 1956 Italian championship and went on to collect victories until the 1960s.

The C-X16 is the latest 21st century Jaguar sports car that comes powered by a combination of an all-alloy 3.0 liter V6 Supercharged engine and a performance-boosting electric motor inspired by Formula One’s Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS). The innovative power system reduces fuel consumption and thus improves acceleration for an overall smoother and healthier drive. The exterior is constructed from a lightweight aerospace aluminum, while the inside underlines the ‘One plus One’ layout by deliberately creating a cocooned space. The interior references classic racing Jaguar cars with a shrink-wrapped dashboard to provide the driver with the best view forward. No word yet on a release, but there are still talks that the car may hit the road sometime in the next few years. Stay tuned for further developments.
Sweet, sweet ride.
